The Mirza Ali Behrouze Ispahani Research Center, established in 2026, is the dedicated research platform of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital (IIEI&H). Managed by the Department of Research & Development, the Center strengthens IIEI&H’s commitment to research, innovation, and evidence-based ophthalmic care.
Building on IIEI&H’s long-standing excellence in eye care, education, and community services, the Center promotes the generation and translation of scientific evidence to improve clinical practice, eye health programmes, and patient outcomes. It is named in honour of Mr. Mirza Ali Behrouze Ispahani, former Chairman of IIEI&H, in recognition of his remarkable leadership and contribution to the institution.
The Center focuses on research capacity development, providing training, mentorship, workshops, and research support for ophthalmologists, trainees, optometrists, nurses, and allied eye care professionals. It also facilitates institutional, national, and international collaborative research addressing priority issues in ophthalmology and eye health.
Knowledge generation and dissemination are central to its activities. The Research & Development Department coordinates the IIEI&H Journal of Ophthalmology, the IIEI&H Newsletter, and other academic initiatives to promote scientific communication, research integrity, and a strong institutional research culture.
Through research, collaboration, capacity development, and scientific publication, the Center aims to transform clinical experience into evidence that contributes to better eye care and the prevention of avoidable blindness.
