Neuro-Ophthalmology

Fellowship training requires more in-depth knowledge about the pathophysiology and management of ophthalmic diseases that can usually be obtained in residency training in Ophthalmology. This is a program of continuous period of intense and focused training in developing and maintaining knowledge, skills, scholarship, and professionalism.

Subspecialty Fellowship training for Neuro-Ophthalmology encompasses the following areas:

  1. This fellowship training program in neuro-ophthalmology provides fellows with expert knowledge and comprehensive experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with neuro-ophthalmologic disorders, and develops sound clinical judgment throughout.
  2. The disorders managed include disorders of the visual sensory system, as well as disorders of the ocular motor pathways and abnormalities of pupil. In addition to clinical neuro-ophthalmology, fellows receive intensive exposure in surgical management of cataract patients.
  3. In order to gain a comprehensive knowledge on different sub specialties and attain a broader view of patient management, the fellows are sent for one-month rotation to ophthalmic subspecialty departments other than neuro-ophthalmology. To gain skills in community eye service the fellows are sent to any one of branch hospitals for one month.

Duration:The duration of fellowship is (3 months duration, no hands-on exposure on surgeries will be provided).

Requirements::

  • Candidates who have completed post graduate degree
    (D.O./F.C.P.S./M.S./equivalent degree )
  • recognized by BMDC/IIEI&H) in ophthalmology may apply.
  • The candidate must have Binocular single vision (BSV).
  • Age should not exceed 45 years.

Session: Short term fellowship training admission open any time depending on availability of slot.

Selection for Fellowship will be made on a competitive basis based on the results of a written test (MCQ) and a subsequent interview.  (Skype interview for foreign candidates)
