Overview

The Retina Department has the equipment to be able to provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as fundus fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography using the latest Zeiss equipment imported from Germany, an optical coherence tomograph, a B-scan, diode laser, and an Argon (green) laser.

Two of the Consultants in the Retina Department spent time at L V Prasad Eye Institute, India.  Dr. Nazmun Nahar did her fellowship in Hyderabad, and Dr. Sanjoy Das completed a full 15-month fellowship in Hyderabad.

 

In 2011, the Department saw over 34,351 outpatients (on average 118 per day) and performed more than 1,395 surgeries. The main surgeries performed by the retina surgeons include: retinal detachment surgery with or without vitrectomy, macular hole surgery, and vitrectomy with lensectomy.
