MOU between Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital (IIEI&H), and Apollo Hospitals
To establish Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Screening and Treatment

Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital (IIEI&H) and Apollo Hospitals Dhaka have entered into an agreement to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Screening and Treatment Services in Bangladesh. This program is supported by ORBIS International.

The ROP Program is a special program that helps to identify serious eye problems in the newborn that often get diagnosed very late and also to help eliminate Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) blindness.

ROP is one of the major emerging causes of childhood blindness and may lead to incurable vision loss in prematurely born and low birth weight babies.

The objective is to create a supportive environment in the NICU of the Apollo Hospitals to provide Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening and treatment services by IIEI&H as needed.

This program will introduce high quality clinical standards for the screening and treatment of the neonates who are at risk of developing Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) or who are suffering from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
