This comprehensive eye care consists of an eye check including Auto-refraction, duct test for watering eyes and an eye pressure test if necessary. The service includes referral to our sub specialty departments wherever needed.
Patients who are referred for surgery from GOPD benefit from lower surgery charges with an option for further subsidies for the economically underprivileged. We are able to keep our GOPD fees low because we operate on the basis of cross subsidation. The concept of GOPD charge policy is to make it’s services affordable particularly for the poor and middle class in accordance with the organization’s mission and founding principles. Our policy is that no patient should leave our hospital without treatment because of limited finances.
The OPD is manned by qualified ophthalmologists, optometrists and a number of patient care staff. The examination rooms are well equipped with all necessary equipment.
The GOPD registration remains open from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm and on Thursdays from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm. The OPD remains closed on Fridays and all government holidays.
Our OPD department has recently been expanded to minimise waiting time for patients. It takes approximately two hours from being registered to being seen by an optometrist and then a doctor.
In the case of an emergency the patient should go directly to the Emergency Department without the need for registering first.
Please note patients of 16 years and under who need GOPD services should proceed directly to the Pediatric (Children Eyecare) department.
